Exploring Trades and Careers: Tomaree High Visits Coho Property Site
Fifteen students from Tomaree High School visited the Yacaaba Nelson Bay construction site today for an immersive, behind-the-scenes look at how a modern development comes together. The site tour is part of Coho Property’s commitment to community involvement and inspiring pathways into property and construction careers.
Coho Property CEO Rod Salmon welcomed the students to the site, while Project Manager Liam Bryant kicked off the visit with a safety-focused toolbox talk as the students geared up in their hard hats and high vis vests.
Led by Charles Elias, Workplace Transition Coordinator, the students were divided into four rotating groups. Each met directly with our trade partners in plumbing, concreting, electrical, and building.
At each station, students received an overview of the trade, a Q&A session with professionals on site with the aim to give the students an insight into career pathways, training options, and what it takes to thrive in each field.
The hands-on experience gave students a close-up look at real work happening on the ground. It also opened up conversations about apprenticeships, skill development, and the many opportunities available across the construction industry.
Coho Property is proud to support initiatives that help young people build confidence, gain real-world insight, and explore futures they may never have considered. We look forward to continuing meaningful community partnerships like this well into the future.
A special thanks to our trade partners for the effort and support: Ryley Bliss of Pinpoint Plumbing, Matt McGarry of Nelson Bay Electrical Services, Khai Funnell of Khaicrete Concrete & Excavation and lastly to our long-term building partners, Wayne Drew and Mason Drew of Drew Construction Group.
